Damrak in Amsterdam
Damrak is the main street from Central Station to the Dam Square (Royal Palace, Madame Tussaud Museum). At Damrak you will find restaurants, hotels, shops and even the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
Swissotel is located at the end of Damrak near Dam Square.

Opposite of Swissotel is the "Bijenkorf", the largest department store of Amsterdam.

The tram is the best way to travel through Amsterdam Center. Lots of trams stop at Central Centation and Dam Square. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are 3km from Damrak; about 10 minutes by tram. The Anne Frank House is within 15 minutes walking from Damrak. Coffeeshops are in the alleys of Damrak and in the Red Light District area.
